MINISTRIES AND ORGANIZATIONS
ALTAR SERVERS
Altar servers are open to those boys and girls in 4th grade and above. This is an opportunity for personal and spiritual growth. Confirmation candidates are also invited to participate in this ministry. Meetings are held when deemed necessary. Call the church Office at 981-0874 for information.
ADULT PRAYER BREAKEAST
All adults of the Parish are invited to begin their week on Monday mornings at 6:30 in the Office. We share the Word of God, fellowship and breakfast. For more information call 981-0874.
ST. EDMOND ALTAR SOCIETY
The general purpose of St. Edmond Altar Society is to promote true Christian charity, the love of God and of our neighbor and Christian family life.
Membership is open to all women actively participating in the life of St Edmond Parish. Meetings are held on the 3rd Wednesday of each month from September through May. A quarterly communion is held on the third Sunday of the months of March, June, September, and December. Dues are $10.00 per year, payable in September.
Our activities include mini-retreats and fund-raisers such as cake sales and the Parish Fair Bingo which help to support needs of the parish and furnish personal items for the Women's and Children's Shelter in Lafayette. For more information please call the office for more information 981-0874.
BOY SCOUTS
Boy Scout troop #162 is sponsored by St. Edmond Church. Boys that have completed the 5th grade are welcome to join. We camp out once a month and meet in Dowling Hall every Sunday at 4:00 p.m. (except on campout weekends). Call Jeff Robinson for more information at 984-7589.
EUCHARISTIC ADORATION
Following 8:30 am mass on the first Friday of each month, 24 hour adoration of the Blessed Sacrament begins in the Daily Chapel (Cry Room). It concludes on Saturday with Benediction and a rosary at 6:50 a.m. A sign-in book is placed outside the chapel door. Everyone is encouraged to make a commitment of one hour per month. EUCHARISTIC MINISTERS
Parishioners above the age of 16 who have been baptized and confirmed may be commissioned as Eucharistic Ministers to distribute communion at all liturgies and to conduct communion services. Special groups of these ministers also serve those who are homebound, in nursing homes or in hospitals. The groups meet quarterly for spiritual growth, renewal, and Instruction. KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS
The K C's are a group of Christian men who meet once a month on the 3rd Thursday of each month at 7 p.m. in the Family Center for a social gathering (dinner) and a meeting. Anyone 18 years old or older can join. We do charitable works for St. Edmond, have a prayer group, sponsor blood drives, and acknowledge outstanding students and people in the community. One of our main fund-raisers is our barbecue held every May. Please join and see what a great group this is. Call Grand Knight Karl Guidery at 856-6296 for information.
KAYCEE AUXILIARY
The St. Edmond Kaycee Auxiliary, a member of the Louisiana State Kaycee Auxiliaries, was organized on April 30, 1993, to assist the Knights of Columbus in promoting good fellowship through religious and social activities. Every 3rd Thursday of the month our auxiliary and the KC council enjoy a meal prior to our individual meetings. The Auxiliary helps with the yearly KC barbecue, golf tournament and Tootsie Roll drive for the mentally handicapped. We periodically donate to the church pantry and participate in projects promoted by the Kaycee Council of Auxiliaries of Louisiana such as "Pro-Life" involvement. Call the office 981-0874.
LECTORS
The purpose of the Lector is to prepare in order to understand and proclaim the word of God so the community may grow in a warm and loving knowledge of scripture. Membership is open to anyone willing to prayerfully commit themselves to this ministry. Call the office for more details.
LIBRARY
St. Edmond library/Resource Center provides inspirational reading, listening and viewing material for all parishioners. The Center is open from September through June before and after all week end Masses except before the 7:30 am Mass. When CCD is in session the Center is open on Monday 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Wednesdays 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Volunteers are needed to man the library. MUSIC
Music is an essential part of each service at St. Edmond Catholic Church. Organized choirs for the 9 a.m., 11 a.m., and 6pm Masses practice weekly. All are invited to be a part of this prayerful ministry. You as singer or musician may contact:

NURSING HOME MINISTRY
Our Nursing Home Ministry consists of communion services at nine nursing homes in Lafayette. Lay ministers administer communion, pray with the residents, offer counseling services, and assist in whatever way needed by the residents. For more information call Tom Grote at 984-5876.
OVER 50 CLUB
The Over 50 Club meets the 2nd Wednesday of each month to provide fun aud fellowship for those over 50 in the parish. Programs and retreats are held for the enrichment of the membership. For more information contact Jay and Mona Caldwell at 237-0033.
RIGHT-TO-LIFE
The Pro-Life coordinators gather and obtain any information or material from the Diocese of Lafayette regarding pro-life issues on a local, state, or national level. The information is passed on to the parishioners who are urged to get involved in the pro-life movement by contacting their Senators and Representatives about pro-life legislation. Periodic pro-life talks are given and information regarding right-to-life issues are announced in the Sunday bulletin. For more information call Noris & Patsy Thibodeaux at 984-9947.
RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION OF ADULTS (RCIA)
The process of adult initiation begins with your inquiry into the life of the Church community and ends when you enter the fullness of life with Jesus in Eternity.
RCIA offers an opportunity for those wishing to join the Catholic Faith to prepare, through study and prayer, to be received fully into the life of the Church. RCIA also offers Catholics the opportunity to grow in their faith by learning more about the church.
RCIA meets on Mondays at 7 p.m. beginning in September. Those wishing to begin this process should contact Deacon Paul Matte at 981-0874.
ST. EDMOND FALL FESTIVAL
The annual St. Edmond Catholic Church Fall Festival is usually held the last weekend in September. The festival is held to promote community and fellowship in the parish. Parishioners are invited to participate in the fair by volunteering to build booths, work in booths, and come out for a fun family weekend. Announcements are placed in the bulletin for planning and organizational meetings.
ST. JULES / ST. EDMOND CREDIT UNION
In 1968 the St. Jules Credit Union was organized to allow those persons in the Field of membership to pool savings, lend savings to one another, and own the organization where these and other related financial services may be obtained. It is operated democraticallv and under both state and federal regulations the objectives are:
1. To protect, preserve and safeguard the assets of our member-owners;
2. To offer financial services and high quality at fair rates;
3. To educate members in sensible money management so as to improve their financial condition;
4. To promote the Credit Union philosophy.
In 1989, the field of membership of the St. Jules Credit Union was extended to St. Edmond Catholic Community. Anyone desiring more information and/or to join need only contact the Credit Union office at 1600 North Bertrand Drive or call 261-1151.
ST. VINCENT DE PAUL
The St. Vincent de Paul Society's main purpose is to assist the needy of our area, first by trying to meet their physical needs, then by encouraging them to accept responsibility for themselves and their families and to give them hope in the Lord.
Meetings are held quarterly to discuss the needs of St. Edmond and the community. Speakers inform the membership of needs and/or ways to help those who call upon us.

SCRIPTURE STUDY
Scripture Study at St. Edmond Church entails discussion, explanation, and application of the Sunday readings. Studying the Sacred Word of God teaches LIS the truths which God wants us to know, understand, and live by, for the sake of our salvation.
Scripture Study is held every Tuesday at 9:30 am in the meeting room of the Family Center and at 7:00 p.m. in the Office. What a wonderful opportunity to learn about the Bible.
USHERS
The Ushers are responsible for maintaining orderly entrance and exit and locating suitable seating for parishioners attending liturgies. They pass the collection baskets during the Offertory and at other designated times during each Mass. Ushers arrive before the liturgy, greet parishioners entering the church, and perform the duties previously described. The Ushers meet periodically throughout the year as announced in the bulletin. YOUTH GROUP
The St. Edmond Youth groups (Jr. and Sr. High) are open to all St. Edmond youth in 7th-12th grade. Meetings are held in the Family Center on the 1st and 3rd Sunday of the month at 6 p.m. (right after 5 p.m. mass). The group shares ministries which include fellowship. service, study. and worship. Adult chaperones are always needed for dances, lock-ins, retreats, trips, and other activities Volunteers for setting up refreshments at youth group meetings are also needed.
